<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup apparatus or the like that can adjust the white balance of an image taken by adding weighted multiple pixel values. <P>SOLUTION: The image pickup apparatus comprises a readout control section 131, a mixed color removal processing section 120, a color temperature detecting section 121, a color temperature adjusting section 122 and an estimating and calculating section. The readout section 131 sets up a unit for addition shifted overlapping to obtain multiple low-resolution images that are different in determination of weight coefficient from each color of multiple colors. The mixed color removal processing section 120 executes a processing for removing a mixed color by weighted addition on the multiple low-resolution images to determine pixel values corresponding to each color of the multiple colors. The color temperature detecting section detects a color temperature on the basis of the low-resolution image whose mixed color is removed. The color temperature adjusting section 122 adjusts a color temperature of the low-resolution image on the basis of the detected color temperature.
