<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic key system which reduces power consumption required for transmission of request signals. <P>SOLUTION: Only when it is determined that an electronic key 10 approaches a vehicle 2, request signals are transmitted from an on-vehicle device 20.
