PURPOSE: A method to detect illegal access points capable of providing users with a safe wireless network service and a wireless communications terminal for same are provided to notify users whether a wireless network is safe or not by detecting illegal AP(Access Point)s. CONSTITUTION: A wireless LAN(Local Area Network) communications unit(710) communicates with an AP. An agent(720) generates an abnormal authentication value. The agent attempts authentication with the AP through the wireless LAN communications unit. If the authentication is successful, the agent determines the AP as an illegal AP. The agent attempts authentication with the abnormal authentication value as many as the number of illegality detecting trials. If the authentication is successful within the number of the illegality detecting trials, the agent determines the AP as the illegal AP.
