<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator governor support apparatus that can be composed of inexpensive and lightweight members even if a governor is installed at a position away from a guide rail. <P>SOLUTION: A cord stop beam 4 is fixed horizontal between adjacent guide rails 2 and 3 on the top inside a hoistway 1. The cord stop beam 4 is connected with a plurality of main ropes 7 which sling down a cage and a balance weight. A governor support member 8 is connected to the cage guide rail 2 under the cord stop beam 4. A connecting member 10 is connected between the second support member end 8b of the governor support member 8 and the middle part of the cord stop beam 4.
