PURPOSE: An apparatus for displaying the position of a user and a method thereof are provided to induce a user to a proper position by displaying the current position of the user without disturbance about the GUI(Graphic User Interface) area of a currently operating application or a TV broadcast display area. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus detects the position of a user by the front camera of a display(S410). The apparatus displays a sign indicating the detected position on the display(S420). The apparatus changes the shape of the sign in response to the movement of the user(S430). The shape of the sign is at least one of the length, thickness, and position of the sign.
