The invention relates to a method for producing a dermatologically effective yeast extract, comprising the following steps: providing a preculture of the yeast cells; culturing the cells for at least fifteen minutes at a pH value of 1.8 to 4; harvesting the cells; and lysing the cells. The invention further relates to a yeast extract produced by means of said method and to products comprising such a yeast extract.
