The battery cell has a housing (10) provided with a gas outlet aperture (11). The flow of gas from a housing interior portion (14) to a housing environment (15) through a gas outlet aperture and the flow of gas from the housing environment to the housing interior portion through the gas outlet aperture are prevented by a non-return valve (20). The non-return valve is provided with a sealing surface (21) made of metal or plastic material. A bending spring element (23) is mechanically connected with the sealing surface. An independent claim is included for a battery or battery cell module.
