PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing a display panel is provided to surround an upper and a lower motherboard with a dummy sealant, thereby preventing damage to the substrate due to etchant. CONSTITUTION: A sealant pattern including first sealants(210a), second sealants(210b) and at least one dummy sealant(210c) are formed on one of an upper motherboard and a lower motherboard(101). Liquid crystal is dropped in a space obtained by the first sealant. Multiple display panels are formed by combining the upper motherboard with the lower motherboard. The first and the second sealant, and the dummy sealant are hardened. The rear side of the motherboard is etched. Unit display panels are separated by scribing.
