<p>Provided herein are a method, apparatus and computer program product for operating a device in a locked state, requiring a password to be entered to transition from the locked state to an unlocked state, and for providing for transmission of a password request message from the device while the device is in the locked state. Embodiments may further include receiving a selection of a mechanism for receipt of a password message. The mechanism may be a phone call, an email message, or a text message which may be received on a second device that was previously configured to receive the password message. The method may also include receiving a password message that includes a password hint in response to providing for transmission of a password request message. The password message containing the password hint may be received on the device and the password message may be retrievable by a user when the device is in the locked state.</p> |
