The invention relates to a heat shield element having at least one side wall (16), wherein the side wall (16) comprises at least one depression (4) having a passage (30) that points in the direction of a supporting structure (17), wherein a fixing screw (18) can be introduced into the depression (4) and can be led through the passage (30) for fixing the heat shield element (14) perpendicularly to a screw fixing means (19) provided on the supporting structure (17), wherein the passage (30) in the side wall (16) comprises a securing means (41, 44) which is at least partly formed by the side wall (16), and wherein the securing means (41, 44) prevents the fixing screw (18) falling laterally out of the passage (30) during installation.
