One embodiment according to the present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for coding/decoding an image using a high precision filter. One embodiment according to the present invention provides the method for coding/decoding the image, comprising: a step of coding the image for generating a prediction block of a current block, and converting a residual block which is generated by reducing output of the prediction block so as to generate a frequency conversion block, wherein a different conversion method is used according to a conversion unit to generate the frequency conversion block, and then quantizing and coding same into a bitstream; and a step of decoding the image for extracting information on the frequency conversion block, which is quantized from the bitstream, and on the conversion unit, and reverse-quantizing the frequency conversion block that is quantized to recover the frequency conversion block, and reverse-converting the frequency conversion block to recover the residual block, wherein a different reverse-conversion method is used according to the conversion unit that is extracted, and the prediction block is generated from a reference block, which is referenced by a movement vector, so as to increase output of the residual block and the prediction block that are recovered, thereby recovering the current block.
