In order to restrain the pressing of the accelerator pedal by the driver in an operation state with worsening fuel efficiency, the actual opening degree of the accelerator pedal is shown on a display unit together with a reference guide value for an accelerator pedal opening degree such that acceleration performance and fuel efficiency performance can be balanced under the current operation state. When the current speed-change ratio of the transmission deviates from an optimal speed-change ratio of the transmission which is determined by the operation state of the vehicle, the reference guide value is changed such that the engine output of the vehicle is decreased.
