MOBILE INFORMATION TERMINAL AND POSITION REGION ACQUISITION METHOD

Provided is a mobile information terminal with which it is possible to appropriately acquire an optimal position region of an object which can be operated, without being affected by individual differences of a user's gripping characteristics. A mobile information terminal comprises: a pressure sensor array which acquires a gripping pressure distribution; a gripping pressure logger which logs a change over time of gripping pressure for each pressure sensor which configures the pressure sensor array; a gripping pressure fluctuation point detection unit which acquires a change over time of the gripping pressure for each pressure sensor, and which further comprises a gripping pressure fluctuation degree computation unit which assesses, in one of the pressure sensors, whether the fluctuation degree per unit time of the gripping pressure exceeds a prescribed value; and a position region acquisition unit which, in one of the pressure sensors, if the fluctuation degree per unit time of the gripping pressure exceeds the prescribed value, sets an optimal position region of an operable object with a location at which the fluctuation degree per unit time of the gripping pressure exceeds the prescribed value being treated as a reference.
