[Class 115.] Gear for securing a combined luffing and slueing movement of ships' davits mounted in a frame secured to the deck comprises screw gear for luffing, the davit 13 with the usual overhang 13a, consisting of a screwed nut working on a collar on the davit arm and the screw 15 pivotally mounted at 16 on the deck pedestal 10. The slueing movement is secured by providing the offset extension 18 on the davit arm connected by a link 17 to the pedestal at 19b. In a modification the slueing movement is obtained by providing a pin on the davit arm working in along a helical slot in a sleeve on the davit arm as the luffing action is carried out. In a further modification a pinion on the davit arm works with a rack fixed to the pedestal. |
