ENZYME FUNCTION MODIFICATION METHOD AND ENZYME VARIANT THEREOF

The present invention addresses the problem of providing an enzyme function modification method that changes the coenzyme dependence of medium-chain dehydrogenase/reductase (MDR) family enzymes. The present invention also addresses the problem of providing an MDR family enzyme variant of which the coenzyme dependence has been changed by the enzyme function modification method, and a method for applying the enzyme to enzymatically manufacture an optically active alcohol. An enzyme modification method that changes the coenzyme dependence of MDR family enzymes is newly developed; the enzyme modification method is used to logically design, from a useful MDR family enzyme that uses NADH as a coenzyme, an enzyme variant that uses NADPH as a coenzyme, and to provide a variant that actually has such a function.
