A control device for a rotary machine is provided with a position estimation unit (6) which stores a current in a storage unit (5) as a stored current value at a time when a voltage applying unit (3) applies a voltage vector to a three-phase rotary machine (1) and estimates a rotor position when the rotary machine (1) is suspended on the basis of the stored current value, and an adjustment unit (7) which adjusts the voltage vector application time (Ta) to a minimum time whereby the rotary machine (1) is in a magnetic saturation state in order to make it possible to estimate the rotor position. Further, when a voltage vector based on a voltage vector command the application time of which is set to an arbitrary application time (Tm) is applied, the adjustment unit (7) defines as an adjustment evaluation value the magnitude of differential admittance |?Y| introduced by dividing an added current value obtained from the stored current value by a voltage amplitude value of the voltage vector command, and adjusts the application time on the basis of the |?Y|. Hereby, the degree of magnetic saturation can be more appropriately evaluated, and thus a minimum application time setting time that allows for estimation of the rotor position can be detected and set simply and reliably. |
