In the present invention, user interface information used for operating a video device from a variety of manufacturers is effectively presented without requiring a high level of performance of another video device that is used for manipulating the video device. In this information management system, a recorder (10) and a TV (20) are connected together, and the recorder (10) or the TV (20) and a server device (50) are connected together. The server device (50) is used to manipulate the recorder (10). The server device stores user interface information displayed on the TV (20), receives information on the recorder (10) and information on the TV (20) from the recorder (10) or the TV (20), and retrieves user interface information that corresponds to the combination comprising the information on the recorder (10) and the information on the TV (20). The recorder (10) or the TV (20) obtains the retrieved information and outputs the obtained information to a control unit that controls displaying of user interface on the TV (20).
