The device has a carrier formed as a honeycomb structure, and an adsorption layer connected with the carrier, where the device does not comprises elements made from copper, ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, silver, osmium, iridium, platinum, gold, iron, cobalt or nickel such that adsorbed nitrogen oxide is not reduced under operating conditions. The device is arranged upstream of a selective catalytic reduction catalytic converter, where the device and the converter are arranged in a housing. An independent claim is also included for a catalytic converter system.
