METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IMPROVED WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORK INTERACTIONS

A method and apparatus for providing improved interactions in a wireless sensor network is provided. A method and apparatus perform a first polling session to identify one or more available nodes. The method and apparatus receive address information for the one or more available nodes, and using the address information along with information from a network topology map which includes available nodes and leaf nodes, calculates an appropriate power level to reach all possible leaf nodes. The method and apparatus adjust the power level to the appropriate power level, and in doing so, conserve power by only using power necessary to communicate with the available nodes rather than the available nodes and leaf nodes.
