Provided is a non-specific reaction inhibitor for inhibiting the occurrence of any non-specific reaction associated with a measurement procedure in a simple and effective manner to achieve the accurate detection and quantification of a trace component (a target substance) in a sample in an immunoassay. The non-specific reaction inhibitor comprises a substance represented by formula (I) [wherein R1 and R2 together form a double bond between carbons to which R1 and R2 are respectively bound directly, or R1 represents a hydrogen atom and R2 represents a group formed by removing H from an SH-group-containing compound; B represents a carrier; and L represents a spacer arm moiety].
