The hydraulic drive system (10) comprises two hydraulic pumps (20,30). The latter hydraulic pump has a fluid inlet (31) and a fluid outlet (32). The fluid inlet is connected with a customer (24) over a return pipeline (12) such that hydraulic fluid flows with a pressure above an environmental pressure in the latter hydraulic pump, where the hydraulic fluid flows back from the consumer. The fluid inlet is connected with a valve, particularly a non-return valve (36) by an inlet pipeline (35). The non-return valve is again connected with a tank (11).
