PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tool which is exchanged automatically and can be attached to/detached from a tool spindle by a simpler operation, and to obtain a tool exchange device.SOLUTION: The tool includes a cylindrical or conical surface which is arranged between a shank which is joined to the tool spindle, and a cutting tool (grindstone or a tip) or on the opposite side of the cutting tool to the shank and fit in a cylindrical or conical recessed surface arranged in a tool holder of a tool magazine. The tool is attached to the tool spindle of a machine tool in such a vertical posture that the side of the cutting tool 3 is made to face downward. The tool is held by the tool holder of the tool magazine in such a state that the cylindrical or conical surface is fit in the cylindrical or conical recessed surface arranged in the tool holder of the tool magazine and in the vertical posture that the cutting tool is made to face downward. |
