<p>PURPOSE: Protecting an active audio transducer is provided to supply an output signal for adjusting gains of a preamplifier in an audio system by comparing average power information with a threshold value. CONSTITUTION: An audio system(200) includes a preamplifier(201), a power amplifier(202), a limiter(203), a power monitoring circuit(204), and a protective circuit(205). A speaker(206) operates an output signal. A current of the speaker is separately measured by using the power monitoring circuit. The measured signals are increased to generate output power information indicating actual output power. The output power information is used to directly control a compression system or the limiter for dynamic range control. The output power information controls profits of a signal path. The output power information can be integrated to generate an average value of speaker load power for signal control.
