METAMATERIAL AND METAMATERIAL ANTENNA

The present invention relates to a metamaterial and a metamaterial antenna, relatively arranged on the propagation direction of an electromagnetic wave of a radiation source. A line running from the radiation source to a point on a first surface of the metamaterial and a straight line perpendicular to the metamaterial have therebetween an angle ?. Angle ? uniquely corresponds to a curved face within the metamaterial. The curved face uniquely corresponding to angle ? has at all points thereon an identical refraction index. The refraction index of the metamaterial gradually decreases as angle ? increases. The electromagnetic wave passes through the metamaterial, then emits horizontally from a second surface of the metamaterial. By designing the curved face for transitions of the refraction index of the metamaterial, effects of refraction, diffraction, and reflection are greatly reduced at the transitions, thus reducing the problem caused by interference therebetween, and providing the metamaterial and the metamaterial antenna with improved performance.
