A heating unit (10) adapted for connection to an externally heated water supply via a thermostatic control valve (TCV) (22), comprises a heat exchanger (12), a powered convection means (11), and a low temperature cut-out (LTC) device (13). The heat exchanger (12) is housed within the heating unit (10) and is arranged to be supplied with externally heated fluid. The powered convection means (11) is arranged to draw ambient air across the heat exchanger (12). The low temperature cut-out (LTC) device (13) is arranged to control the supply of power to the convection means (11). The LTC device (13) is configured to operate at a cut-out temperature that is below the temperature of the heat exchanger (12) when being supplied with externally heated fluid. A method for controlling such a heating unit (10) is also provided.
