The device has a switching network which is controlled by a controller (164). An ignition transformer (116) with primary coil is attached as load to the switching network. The ignition system voltage and reference voltage are compared by a comparator network and the compared result is indicated to the controller to operate the switching network. An independent claim is included for method for controlling ignition system.
