[Problem] To provide a method for sterilizing water in the inside of a water supply conduit in an examination and treatment device for use in dental examination and treatment without adding a chemical solution or the like and also preventing bacterial growth in the conduit, and a dental examination and treatment device incorporating this sterilization means. [Solution] A dental examination and treatment device (100) has a structure in which an electrolytic cell (21) including an electrode unit (25) composed of a plurality of electrodes (24) is incorporated in the device. By applying a direct voltage to the electrode unit (25), electrolyzed water having a pH of 6.5 to 8.0 and a residual chlorine concentration of 1.0 to 5.0 mg/L is produced, and by allowing the produced electrolyzed water to pass through inside a dental chair unit, the inside of a water supply conduit in the device is sterilized.
