A method for producing a high-strength magnesium alloy material is characterized by comprising: (a) a step of preparing a body to be worked (110) having a top face (112) and a side face (114) and produced from a magnesium alloy; and (b) a step of applying a compressive load (sp) (MPa) from the top face (112) side of the body to be worked (110) and performing uniaxial forging on the body to be worked (110), and characterized in that the step (b) is performed under conditions that satisfy (i) sp>sf (where sf is the compressive breaking stress (MPa) of the body to be worked), (ii) a plastic deformation rate of 10% or less, and (iii) a strain rate of 0.1/sec or less while deformation such that the side face (114) of the body to be worked (110) is widened outwardly is suppressed. |
