According to an embodiment, this lighting device is provided with: a base material (2); a directional light source (6) that emits visible light; and a light-transmitting cover (4) that covers at least the front of the light source, and has a light-transmitting region where light emitted from the light source is emitted externally. The light-transmitting cover is formed by a material in which a diffusion filler is dispersed in a volume, and has a non-circular dome shaped cross section. The vertical shape of the light-transmitting cover has an aspect ratio, obtained by dividing the height in the optical axis direction of the light-transmitting region by the width of the ends of the back side, that is greater than 0.6, and a transmittance of not more than 70%.
