The purpose of the present invention is to provide a technique for improving the search speed for corresponding points irrespective of the state of an image. In order to achieve this purpose, a first corresponding point corresponding to a first reference point is searched for in a reference image after a first conversion on the basis of first phase information for each frequency component in a first reference area including the first reference point of the reference image generated from a first image after first conversion, and second phase information for each frequency component in the first reference area including a first search reference point of a reference image generated from a second image after first conversion. Also, a second search reference point is determined in the second image on the basis of the position of the first corresponding point in the reference image after first conversion. In addition, a second corresponding point corresponding to a second reference point is searched for in the second image on the basis of third phase information for each frequency component in a second reference area including the second reference point corresponding to the first reference point in the first image, and fourth phase information for each frequency component in the second reference area including the second search reference point in the second image. In this two-step search, information related to frequency components obtained in the calculations performed in the other step is reused. |
