An authentication method for a user of an electronic device which provides continuous checking of whether the user accessing the electronic device is the authenticated user. The method relies on characteristic patterns of usage of a trackpad, which are registered in advance and compared (S120) with current usage data of the trackpad collected (S110) throughout normal operation. Failure to find a match results in a countermeasure (S140) such as locking the screen of the electronic device. Registration may be via a specific process or learned through normal operations of the electronic device by the user. |
