PURPOSE: A planetary gear train of an automatic transmission for a vehicle is provided to implement a transmission lever with a forward movement having nine shift gears and a backward movement having one shift gear by combining two planetary gear sets with six friction members and four intermediate gear sets, thereby improving power transmission performance and fuel efficiency. CONSTITUTION: An input shaft(IS) receives the rotation power of an engine. An output shaft(OS) outputs the shifted rotation power. A first planetary gear set(PG1) is composed of a first rotation element, a second rotation element, and a third rotation element. The first planetary gear set is arranged on the input shaft. A second planetary gear set(PG2) is composed of a fourth rotation element, a fifth rotation element, and a sixth rotation element. The second planetary gear set is arranged on the output shaft.
