Connecting-rods.-A pitman for a mowing or a reaping machine has a wooden shaft 1 slotted to receive the tapered end of a flexible steel blade 2 which, at its wider end, is provided with an aperture to take a sleevelike projection 4 extending from a casting forming a bearing-box for the crank-pin. This casting has a flanged part 5 against which the blade abuts and to which it is secured by a clamping plate 6 that passes over the projecting sleeve 4 and is attached to the casting by bolts 9. Strengthening ribs 13 are formed on the casting and the bearing is lubricated from a tube 15 leading to an oil channel 14 surrounding a removable bushing 16 provided with suitable holes. A cap may be provided on the tube 15. |
