Method for recirculating exhaust gases in a two-stage turbocharged diesel engine wherein a part of the exhaust gases from the engine (1) is withdrawn upstream of the turbines (5, 6) that drive the turbocharger compressors (3, 4) and introduced into the engine intake line (2) between the two compressors. An engine suitable for implementing the method described above is also described.
