<p>An extractor (5) for cartridges in a firearm having a bolt (1) is formed as an integral feature of the bolt (1) such that bolt (1) and extractor (5) are a single part. The bolt (1) is further provided with a recess (2) to accommodate a cartridge base . The cartridge travels over stripping face (3) and tilts to enter recess (2) thus passing into engagement with extractor (5) before seating fully into recess (2), such that the major axes of cartridge and bolt (1) coincide , in which position extractor (5) is fully engaged with the cartridge and able to perform the tasks required during the extraction and ejection of a cartridge from the firearm .</p> |
