PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for searching a radio frequency in a radio receiver are provided to automatically search a radio frequency listened by other people by detecting the radio frequency corresponding to a broadcasting signal. CONSTITUTION: An abnormal wave form signal confirmation unit(306) confirms a broadcasting signal which just comprises negative electricity. When the broadcasting signal is confirmed, a control unit(300) compares a signal wave form of each radio frequency and a negative electricity wave form of the broadcasting signal. The control unit detects a radio frequency corresponding to the broadcasting signal. A storage unit(308) stores a signal wave form of each radio frequency.
