370,659. Capsuling bottles &c. BETTS & CO., Ltd. and BLANCHARD, R., 1, Wharf Road, City Road, London. April 17, 1931, No. 11440. [Class 125 (iii).] Relates to capsules of the kind made of soft, plastic metal, e.g. a compound of tin and lead coated with tin. The capsule is conformed to the neck of the bottle by pressure exerted over the whole thereof, the upper part being shaped into a removable and replaceable screw cap. The Figure shows a capsule before application to a bottle. The capsule may taper in thickness from the top, and perforations, a tear-away strip or weak lines 9 may be provided to facilitate the fracture incident on the unscrewing of the top portion. Discs of cork &c. 5, 6, are inserted in the top of the capsule, maintained therein by projections on the inner walls of the capsule, mucilage, or tightness of fit. Flat or dished strengthening discs of tin or aluminium 7, and a lining 11 and disc 14 of non- corrosive substance such as pure tin for preventing contact of the contents of the bottle with the capsule may also be inserted.
