The support (23) has a base (7) welded onto a gutter of a rear window, and an element (15) for carrying a ball joint (21). A fixing unit fixes the ball joint carrying element on the base. The base includes a foot in contact with a gutter of the rear window for fixing the base by welding and a fixing element i.e. tab (13) extended approximately and perpendicularly from the foot for fixing the ball joint carrying element. The fixing element has height less than that of the ball joint carrying element. The tab has a hole for allowing a screw (17) and a nut (25) to pass through. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a rear window of a vehicle.
