The present invention relates to the field of control of an internal combustion engine and, in particular, the disconnection of the inlet and exhaust valves of an internal combustion engine, for example of the controlled-ignition type. The invention proposes a device for actuating at least one valve comprising a support (12) and at least one actuating element (2) which is mounted so that it can pivot and/or slide with respect to the support (12) and rests via a first bearing surface (4) on the valve and via a second bearing surface (5) on a stop (7), characterized in that the stop (7) comprises: - a rod (11) mounted to slide with respect to the support (12) and provided with a top (22) in contact with the actuating element (2); - a spring (18) that presses the rod (11) onto the actuating element (2), and; - locking means (28, 26) for locking the rod (11) in position with respect to the support (12) and actuated by an electromagnetic actuator, the locking means (28, 26) comprising a pin (26) mounted to slide perpendicular to the stop (7) between an activation position in which the pin (26) is housed in a circular groove formed in the rod (11) to block the sliding of the rod, and a deactivation position in which the pin frees the rod so that it can slide.
