<p>PURPOSE: A character input apparatus of a portable terminal is provided to eliminate disadvantages of a character size by adding various characters to a character input unit and by extending the size of a character board in a portable terminal. CONSTITUTION: A character database(330) stores information related to basic representative characters, extended characters, and combination characters. A display unit(300) includes a touch input unit(310) which inputs information through a touch method and outputs an activation keyboard arranged around extended characters related the basic representative character and a basic keyboard including the basic representative characters. A control unit(320) selectively displays basic representative character information and extended character information on a display unit by touching the basic representative character and extended character of an activated keyboard.</p> |
