PURPOSE: A set-top box and a diagnosis method thereof are provided to extract diagnosis information data used in the set-top box while maintaining security by connecting a terminal with the set-top box through a shell terminal. CONSTITUTION: When a terminal(100) accesses through a security shell terminal, a security shell interface unit(210) performs security access by the authentication of the terminal. A storage unit(250) stores diagnosis information of an STB(Set Top Box)(200). When a request for the diagnosis information is received from the terminal, a diagnosis information processor(230) provides information stored in the storage unit to the terminal.
