The device has a frame (20) provided with a rectangular opening for allowing an inflatable cushion (10) to pass through during deployment of the inflatable cushion. A flap (22) is connected to the frame and destined to cover the opening when the inflatable cushion is in a folded position. A portion of a periphery of the flap covers a portion of the frame when the inflatable cushion is in the folded position. The flap comprises fixing interfaces (30) formed of outgrowths (31) for assembling a fixing unit i.e. screw (28), that fixes the flap to the frame. An independent claim is also included for a trimming element of a motor vehicle.
