The method involves immersing a resistive sensor in a container (R). An electrical supply of the resistive sensor, a control operation of the resistive sensor, an impedance measurement of the resistive sensor and comparison of the measured impedance with a threshold are manually operated to determine a level of one of two phases of different thermal capacitances of the resistive sensor in the container as the sensor operation is controlled, where the manual operation is maintained to obtain a set of independent impedance measurements of the resistive sensor during a time interval. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for detecting a level of phases in a container (2) a computer program comprising a set of instructions to perform a method for detecting a level of phases in a container.
