PURPOSE: A manually opening and closing device for the safety foothold of a platform is provided to implement a manual opening and closing operation with respect to the safety foothold of a platform unless the safety foothold of the platform automatically operates. CONSTITUTION: A manually opening and closing device for the safety foothold of a platform includes a frame(10), a cover, a safety foothold, a motor(30), a worm shaft(40), and a worm wheel(50). The frame is installed at a platform. The upper side of the frame is covered with the cover. The safety foothold forwardly introduces into the frame and backwardly escapes from the frame. The motor is installed in the frame. The worm shaft is installed at the rotary shaft of the motor. The worm wheel rotates by being interlinked with the worm shaft and moves the safety foothold. A bevel gear is installed at the end part of the worm shaft. A manual opening and closing unit is installed at the upper side of an Y-axis bevel gear.
