<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coordinate measuring machines (CMM) with a high degree of accuracy, high reliability and durability, substantial ease of use, and low cost. <P>SOLUTION: An articulated arm CMM comprises a plurality of transfer members 20, a plurality of articulation members 35 connecting at least two transfer members to each other, a coordinate acquisition member at a distal end, and a base at a proximal end.
