<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for setting a communication mode. <P>SOLUTION: The method in the communication system is disclosed. In this method, a step for setting a communication link between a first user device and a second user device is started via a communication network. Signaling is performed between the first user device and the second user device for information on at least two communication modes which can be used for communication via the communication link. Signaling is also performed between the first user device and the second user device for an indicator on the mode to be used for communication. After the signaling stage, a step for setting the communication mode on the basis of the indicator is started in at least one of the first user device and the second user device.
