<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact, lightweight, efficient and high power output rotary internal combustion engine utilizing waste heat. <P>SOLUTION: The engine 10 has a rotor 12 rotatable within a housing, but has no piston. The rotor 12 has a plurality of combustion chambers, with inlets for introduction of fuel and outlets for exhaust of combustion products. The discharge rotates the rotor 12 in the housing. Fixed end caps 14, 16 are provided at each end of the housing. The engine is cooled with steam, air and water. The engine is suitable for applications that require high efficiency, high power to weight ratio, such as an aircraft, a ship, and heavy duty transportation.
