The spraying material for producing a thermal spray coating of a metal matrix composite with ceramic reinforcement particles, comprises a ceramic powder (30-35 wt.%), and a metallic powder mixture (65-70 wt.%). The metallic powder mixture comprises a first powder (25-30 wt.%) made from zinc alloy, and a second powder (70-75 wt.%) made from iron alloy. The coating has a layer thickness of 150-700 mu m.
