The mangle (2) has a device part for maintaining energy that is consumed during treatment and drying of textiles resting at a roller by energy supply over a heated trough. The energy is derived according to the principle of maintenance of the energy in gaseous and vaporous portions of hot exhaust air over a ventilator. A flap (3) performs mechanical control function (FC) in a pipeline (1) for hot exhaust air. A direct heat exchanger attached to a branch (4) performs fluidized bed function for heating water. An independent claim is also included for a method for maintaining energy.
