375,300. Vertical retorts. GAS CHAMBERS & COKE OVENS, Ltd. and BOWATER, N. J., Artillery House, Westminster. Jan. 15, 1931, No. 1441. Drawings to Specification. [Classes 51 (i) and 51 (ii).] In carbonizing plant comprising a number of settings of vertical chamber ovens or retorts, a number of separately built gas producers supply gas to a common beat-insulated main, which in turn is connected to the various settings by damper-controlled ducts. By this arrangement repairs can be effected to a gas producer without putting the whole plant out of action, and the heating of the settings can be independently controlled. The usual recuperators are omitted or reduced in size, and the' waste heat of the furnace gases is utilized for generating steam. When the recuperators are omitted the preheating of the air may be effected in passages in the setting.
|
